I am a congregational and leadership coach/consultant helping churches and staff teams identify their culture, identity, and mission for the future. Additionally, I may assist in the formal search for a pastor, the development of vision and purpose statement, a strategy for renewal or growth, and interim leadership or preaching.
My strengths include coaching and consulting, preaching and teaching, leadership assessment and congregation building resulting in vision development, staff and team development, cultural change and development of strategic processes for the future.
I live in Cross Plains, Tennessee just north of Nashville, just a quick 30 minute drive to the heart of downtown.
No problem (most days) getting to a Titans, Belmont or Vanderbilt game. Now that our children are grown and married, we enjoy sporting events, Broadway plays at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, and the symphony at the beautiful Schermmerhorn.
We love it here. I served as pastor for the good folk at Mt. Carmel Church in Cross Plains for 32 years!
This is my personal blog. It is focused on coaching, spiritual formation, pastoral and professional leadership, and simple church and community life. My philosophy is that if you are going to live well and lead well, you must be thoughtful and purposeful about it. Some days I am better at it than others!
So, as you will see, I write on various matters important to living life as I would hope Jesus would want. He is the One whom I seek to follow.
My goal is to encourage and affirm you. Hopefully we will seek to live life purposefully.
Over the years, I have learned much about myself, families, church and community. It’s taken all that I am and all that I can learn about God, people and such. Some things I’ve learned intentionally, and the rest through experience. I am a congregational and personal coach associated with the Center for Healthy Churches. I also am an adjunct professor at Belmont University in Nashville.
I have been married to my wife, Cindy, since 1977. She is a retired Special Education Teacher in the public school system. We have 3 sons, 3 daughters-in-law, and 9 grandchildren. It’s as good as everyone said it would be!
I enjoy writing, reading, cycling, and sports in general.
